Dear ACC Maelstrom II cast, crew, consultants, and friends,

after a year-long hiatus, to settle into my new job in the visualization studio at www.calacademy.org, we are resuming production on Arthur C. Clarke's Maelstrom II:

With a work in progress digital painting and comp of the electromagnetic launch rail at the south pole of the moon:

...by talented digital matte artist Niall Booker.

And a reworking of the rescue craft design by Jon Varner:

We are in the process of transferring the Sony HDCAM SR 24fps footage from tape to firewire 800 2TB portable raid, which I recently acquired.

If anyone has access to an HDCAM SR-compatible deck and can assist me with transfer of 1080pfootage to uncompressed 10bit 4:4:4 quicktime, please contact me.

Best wishes,

Dear ACC Maelstrom II cast, crew, consultants, and friends,

my apologies for my radio silence. I have taken 6 months leave from ILM to work on the premier planetarium show for the re-opening of the California Academy of Sciences building in the Golden Gate park, SF.

We continue to move forward on Maelstrom II, with the completion of the textures for the G suit:
